The Village Church Social Justice Ministry believes that in order to share God's transformative love (or whatever or mission statement says), we must discern how God is calling us to live out Luke 4:18-19:

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,

because he has anointed me

to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners

and recovery of sight for the blind,

to set the oppressed free,

19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

We believe that God is calling the Village to address key issues at a service level and on a systemic level. We recognize the necessity of collaboration with similarly minded individuals and groups in order to strategically and effectively remove systemic barriers. One of the organizations that we work with is NOAH (Nashville Organized for Action and Hope). NOAH has chosen to organize around issues of mass incarceration/criminal justice reform, economic equity and housing/gentrification. We believe collectively that we can make significant and lasting changes for the families in Nashville while addressing their immediate needs.
